Overview

Kanga Camp can be best described as “the old Africa in a new era”.  Kanga Camp is set in a private concession in Mana Pools, 15 km from the Zambezi River along the seasonal floodplain of the Ruckomechi River, not too far Chitake Springs.

Tents are comfortably furnished in a large walk-in Meru style, with en-suite bathroom facilities, out-door bucket showers with flushing toilets and private verandas over-looking the water hole

6 tents with a total of 12 beds.

The main chill-out area is built on raised decking, under the shade of large trees. It overlooks the splash pool and Kanga pan, where abundant game can be viewed.

Cuisine & Dining:

The central relaxing lounge also transposes as the dining area, where you will enjoy great home cooked meals with other guests, rangers and guides. Bush dining can also be arranged.

Eco-respect:

Lighting in the tents is provided by rechargeable units, backed up with beautiful, crafted silver kerosene lanterns. We have adopted recycled glasswares for our dining usage. All plastics and other non biodegradable materials are transported out and taken to the official disposal dump near Kariba. We have converted to gas for our refrigeration and kitchen / cooking needs, thus reducing the use of generator and fuels. Showers are the stylish, old fashioned and traditional safari showers at the moment and we are looking at a conversion to solar for the hot water. We place a lot of emphasis on  low impact walking, low disturbance activities on foot as the area really lends itself to this, we are very careful in the planning of new roads and the present road network with special cognizance paid to drainage areas and drainage patterns, erosion etc.

Communications:

The camp can communicate by satellite phone in case of emergency.
